Some musical memories from my favorite musicals.  Enjoy

Since I was a child, I have always loved musicals, whether they be South Pacific, A Chorus Line, or Phantom of the Opera.

So here are some of my favorites

if i were a rich man... my top 10 list

I know I should be reasonable with this, but what fun is that.  So a few item may not be reasonable, but if I had the funds, this is what I would do.

1 Pay off all outstanding debts.


2 get all new furniture both living room and bedroom.


3 get a house, (i know not so reasonable)

4 get my dream car a 1986 Trans Am decked out with the latest gear including auto drive tech.i know, not reasonable)


5 Have enough money to not work for a year and travel. (I know not reasonable)


6 Seek out every MPC Revelle and Matchbox kit produced between 1960 and 1990 and buy then build and display them.


7 Open a business tat employees anyone no matter their ability.

8 Go back to college

9 live in Manitou Springs Colorado half the year.

10  Open a coffee house in Missouri and Colorado..

A review Jesus Christ Superstar

Last night, July 25th, my wife and I watched the dvd of Andrew Lloyd Webber's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR.  This has been a favorite for years for many of us, we all have a favorite song or scene.  However the original movie had always been a bit strange in how it was executed, and in some ways it was hard to enjoy the original film from 1973 because of how it had been edited, scenes did not flow as smoothly from one to next, and some of the acting was almost comedic.

This new version produced in 2000, was the play on film, the scenes flowed smoothly from one and other and were seamless  The acting was stunning and captivating.  Scenes such as Pilate and Christ were stunning because you could see the tension and struggle that was going on deep inside both men..  There was depth of characters, whether it be the deep concealed love that Judas had for Jesus or the dispite felt by Herod.

For me, limiting my favorite tv themes to 5 is almost an impossible mission, here are 5 to give you an idea of some of the shows that still are my favorites.  This is my first time at this blog, and I hope to be a regular.  Hope you enjoy my contribution.

one week...

One week ago, my father in law Bob Hudson passed.

Last week I was so busy with the family, preparing the memorial and such, that I really didn't feel the loss.  Now, it is consuming me.

The house is so quiet and so empty without Bob's presence, and that emptyness seems to follow.  I have not felt this way, since my own fathers' passing back in 1974.

It will pass, but now this sense of depression and emptyness seems to feel permanent and forever.

Sometimes we are lucky, we have a second chance to gain back something we felt we lost; for me thus was my father.  When I was 14 my father Ralph, died of a massive heart attack, at the time I did not believe that my father would die, so I did not go to the hospital... my father died several days later.  Until the past few years, I had not really gotten over this. 

When I was fortunate enough to meet Naila Moon, I had the chance to gain a second father, one who was in many ways a lot like me.  Bob, was a writer and a great story teller as a matter of fact, he was so good you were never sure if he was telling the truth or a story out of his imagination.

I found out that Bob had been in the Navy, during the cold war yet was a beatnic and dedicated to peace.  He was a reporter and and ad man.  He lived to go to the Indy 500 every year, and he loved his wife of 45 years and his four children... he also loved his new son in law, whom he thought a bit off the wall.

I knew from when I married Naila Moon, that her father was on borrowed time, and yet I thought I had many years to know this man, that was not to be.  He had many forms of cancer from being a chain smoker for many years, yet he managed to surprise the doctors more than once.  Then this Wednesday he passed.  I suddenly was dealing with emotions that I had not experienced since I was 14.  The sense of loss and confusion were back like monsters.

Yet I know that Bob, is at rest and finally free of all the pain he had suffered for the last several years.
