Stillwell a haunting in Long Island by Michael Phillip Cash
I finished this book yesterday and have to say, it is one on of the best books I have read in years.
Stillwell is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through. Its' principal character Paul Russo is struggling with the loss of his wife Allison, who was the center of his world.
He feels alone and unable to deal with the fact he has survived and is now alone to raise their three children.
Paul can not let go of the memory of Allison and can not move forward, but he must, and he has one hell of a means to push him forward.
He is a realtor and has to sell the Stillwell estate which is haunted.
Paul finds that ghosts are very real, which shakes the foundation of his world even more.
Between survivors guilt, dealing with ghosts and a partner who is trying to get Paul to move forward Stillwell compells the reader deeper into a world of complex emotions and a struggle for the soul.
Michael Phillip Cash, the author of STILLWELL... did a remarkable job of capturing the intense feelings of survivors guilt.
According to his background, he has not experienced a loss of a loved one, yet the depth of pain and desire that Paul Russo goes through, wanting to be with Allison at any cost is so very real, I know I have lived through this.
Michael also keeps you wanting more, turning every page breathlessly waiting for the next shoe to fall.
This is not a Horror story, but it is a very powerful thriller, it draws you deeper into the web of a haunted house and haunted man, each tied to the other and only in the end is the reason revealed.
When I read this, I kept thinking how this would make a great episode of the classic shows THRILLER or TWILIGHT ZONE, because the story has that compelling twists and turns that Borris Karlof and Rod Serling would bring into your living room weekly.
This is Michael Phillip Cash's second book, and it is one well worth reading and sharing. If you like well drawn character stories with romance, mystery, mysticism and hauntings then STILLWELL a haunting on Long Island is the book for you.
