Mondays' Music that Inspires me

Amazing Grace has always been an inspirational song to me, and I fell in love with the Bag Pipes playing this when this version was used briefly at the end of STAR TREK II The Wrath of Khan.  This is the full version with bag pipes and it is truly an amazing rendition.

wHEN i WAS A MEMBER OF THE cHOIR AT gOOD sHEPHEARD cATHOLIC cHURCH, WE USED TO SING THIS SONG QUITE A BIT, IT BECAME A FAVORITE.  hERE IS mICHAEL cRAWFORD, BETTER KNOWN AS THE pHANTOM OF THE oPERA, SINGING THIS GREAT PIECE.  Sorry for the typos, this is what happens when you have a cat playing with you and you are typing.

This last song is dedicated to my Father Ralph Edward Richards, whom was a musician and arranger.  When I was 9 years old, he wrote an arangement of this song.  Every time I hear this song, I am reminded of my father and encouraged to strive, to seek to find and not to yield.  Borrowing from a poet there that last reference.

So there you have it, the songs that inspire and encourage me.

  1. Who doesn't know Amazing Grace love it. OMG I haven't heard left the cake out in the rain in like forever!!! Love it. I thought I never heard of Michael Crawford before, but his voice sounds vaguely familiar. Song is new though. Thanks for joining us! Great job.

  2. I love the bagpipes. Must come from my Scottish heritage (I'm a part of the Seaton clan). My grandfather still loves to trounce around in his kilt wearing our colors.

I have not heard "On Eagles Wings" being sung in Church for a while now. This one is a good one, and it's fun to play on the piano. I am not too happy with the choir at our Church. They all sing through their noses.

  5. I love listening to the bagpipes play Amazing Grace - so beautiful. My mother played this for my brother's funeral in 2006, which was quite touching. What a send off! Phantom of the Opera has some great music. I thought this guy sounded familiar. Thanks for clearing that one up. That's a bit of interesting tid-bit you shared about your dad. McArthur Park is beautiful song. I love Richard Harris' version. Great to see you on the dance floor with the 4M crew!
