Mondays Music Moves Me. Sailing On

So last week I was the Spotling dancer, and this week it is my theme.

Some of you are asking what did I mean by Sailing On?  This comes from an old Commodores song Sail On, which just would not go away in my head.  To me to Sail On, is to keep moving forward, no matter how hard life is.

So to start off, here are the Commodores with Sail On.
Here is another song about keep the faith and moving forwards by Billy Joel.  What is funny, I have heard this song a million times and never seen the video til today.  Classic Joel all the way,

Last up this one is for my wonderful wife who has seen me in good and bad times.
So there you have it, my take on Sailing ON.

Hope you enjoyed this.

Monday's Music Moves Me.

So I am the spotlight Dancer yea, keep on dancin' yea...

Don't worry, I don't plan on doing Bee Gee's or Disco... At least I don't think I am going to.

So let me go into the cave and see what Music calls out to me.

Heccuuugh Igor, I told you to clean the cave, it is disgusting in here.

"Sorry Master, Batman and I were having a party and I accidently cut off his head. Sorry for the mess and smell."

Igor no more parties, unless you invite Abby and Ziva. Now back to the quest for music. Ah yes yes, that looks interesting.

Since we have had nothing but rain for nearly the last 2 weeks, here's something with a sunny feel to it.

Now let's see what else is hiding down here.
Now seriously, something with some sunshine to it, no more rain I promise
Okay, one last song.  This one has to do with Rain.
Okay since you insist one last song, no Sun no Rain ...
I know this was a crazy Spotlight Dance, but I am a crazy Spotlight Dancer.  Hope it is sunny where you are and that you find the one you are meant to be with.  Til next time. Igor, what are we having for Dinner.  Wait, never mind we'll order Chinese. Yes Master.  How many would you like??? Igor, never mind.

I WAS A FRANKENBERRY KID

When I was growing up, monsters were our friends...  No seriously, long before there was Hotel Transelvania there were Saturday morning cartoons with Frankenstein, the Wolfman and Dracula as cool fun dudes just trying to get along.

General Mills gm caught onto this train and introduced two cereals in 1971 that were yummy for the tummy but terrible for the teeth.

These were Count Chocula (Dracula) and Frenken Berry (Frankenstein)  The cereals were promoted of course on Saturday mornings when every kid would see the commercial for the these cereals.

For me I loved the original Count Chocula and Franken Berry cereals, mainly because these were based on existing monster movies and I just loved the animated Dracula and Frankenstein monster in the commercials.

The cereals tasted like chocolate and strawberries and I used eat them right from the box.

I never got into Boo Berry that much, and by the time Fruit Bruit and Fruity Yummy Mummy came out and left the scene I had stopped eating the original cereals because they were no longer on the market here in Colorado.

But once a year, I will treat myself to Frankenberry and Count Chocula.  Mainly because General Mills only produces the cereals for two months a year now,

So were you a Frankenberry and Count Chocula kid too?

If so, here's remembering when cereals were fun and no one worried about us loosing our teeth because of too much sugar.

Here are the box covers as they originally were and are now.  The Count has gone through the most dramatic change, he was a little scary at first.

Monday's Music Moves Me, Staying Alive.

We start with B J Thomas doing his best know song from the 1970's "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Don McLean doing his top American Pie, a song I have sung many times.
Kenny Rogers The Gambler 1978.
The Bee Gee's How Deep is you Love, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER 1978
Lionel Ritchee and the Commadores Sail on.

I have always loved the music for the 1970's and here are some of my favorites.  I hope you all enjoy these as much as I have in bringing you these special pieces.

You know when you are getting old

I have noticed that some television shows that I used to watch all the time, and I am talking since I was six years old, I have outgrown them.

I decided to watch Gilligan's Island tonight, because I used to love this and would always get a good laugh or two from each episode.

Now it has been a while since I last watched Gilligan... it has not been on any of the local or cable stations here in Colorado for quite some time, I think it was sometime back in the late 1980's or early 1990's that the series was last aired.

So I tuned in, and watched about 2 minutes and turned off the set.  I said to myself, this is not as funny as I remember it, as a matter of fact, it is not funny at all.

I always loved Gilligan, because it was so innocent and I could relate to Gilligan.  But suddenly it just did not hold my attention.

Now this is just the most recent show I have found myself not enjoying.  I have tuned out of classic TREK, not because it is not well written, the stories are still some of the best fiction around, but they are feeling dated,

I find myself enjoying 1 Adam 12, Emergency and Selected episodes of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.

However I am finding myself more involved in Torchwood, the new DOCTOR WHO, Burn Notice and Pawn Stars, than a lot of the programs I have watched forever.

Now there are some older shows I still enjoy.  I am finding myself enjoying STAR TREK, The Next Generation a lot more now, than I did when it was first on the air.  I think this comes from the fact, that I am older and can understand the story lines better than when I was in my mid 20's.

Also Deep Space 9 is one that I enjoy, because this remains current because you can plug in the most recent war footing for the Cardassian Bajorian war and the complex stories that were built along this theme.

I just wish I could enjoy some of the older shows, and maybe eventually I will be able to again; or maybe I have just out grown some shows.

I will have to wait and see.
