October blog challenge-Days 1 through 5

Playing catch up here, so Day one, was a favorite song, this is challenging since I have many songs I really like.   So my top three are.

Mandy, by Barry Manilow
Here comes the Sun by The Beatles
Kissed By A Rose by Seal

Day 2-A favorite Movie  Hands down, my favorite movie is Casablanca.  This has everything, Heroes, a love triangle, political intrigue and Nazi's what more can you ask for.

 Day 3- A Favorite Book

I have too many to limit it to one.

Among my favorites are

Baa Baa Black Sheep by Gregory Pappy Boyington.  I grew up reading books on World War two, and this was one that I had to read.  I had heard of Boyington and knew he had been the top Marine Corps ace, I found him to be not as heroic and the book a bit dry, but it was interesting, especially the sections when he has become a Prisoner of War.

Dune, by Frank Herbert.  The first of many books in this series, now being written by his son.  The stories are rich and complex, and driven by characters who we come to know, some like Paul we both love and hate, because of what happens to him.  They are definitely well worth the read, and may become the spice of life.

Nobel House by James Clavell.  A taught, tense book, that has politics, lust, power struggles and betrayal, it will have you wondering if Ian Dunross will survive and if he does, how he will.

A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity, by Bill O'Reilly.  You may not agree with this, man, you may think he at times is a pompous ass, full of himself, but, he is more.  This book looks at his life, what shaped him, and has some moments that will have you laughing out loud.  Well versed, pithy and just plain fun to read.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  I began reading these books several years ago, and found myself captivated by them.  They have all the classic elements, romance, heroes, a battle against evil all played out in the magical world of Hoqwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  The books captivate and again keep you on the edge of your seat.  I love these books.

The Tree of Life, Israeli Regardi,  Regardi wrote this book dealing with the mystical Qaballa when he was a member of the Golden Dawn, the book is heady, but it is an interesting journey and one that will have you looking at spirituality and life in a different way.  Well worth the read, be forewarned, this is a book you will have to read chapters more than once, because it is very complex and you may wish to have a dictionary handy, some of the words used haven't been since the early 1920's when this book was written.

Blowfly by Patricia Cornwell.  This is one of the books in the Kay Scapaletta series.  These books, are as much a look at the characters lives as the mystery that they are involved in.  Each character is a living breathing flawed person, whom we come to understand and care for.  And best of the story will have you biting your nails wondering what will happen next.

Day 4- A favorite TV Series.  I am going to cheat, and post a link to another page of mine, with my review of my favorite TV series.  HAWAII FIVE O.  Book 'em Danno.

Left to right, Steve McGarrett, Chin Ho Kelly, Kono, Danny (Danno) Williams
